Macadamia Hummus

Love the idea of using macadamia nuts as an addition to a hummus recipe.

The hummus recipe is one of the “Trio of dips Australian style” with the  Macadamia Pesto and Macadamia Tapenade recipes on my to make list.

Moreish Macadamia Hummus

In a food processor, process and purée the following ingredients:

1/2 cup macadamias, roasted

2 cups chickpeas, drained

2 tablespoons macadamia oil

1 tablespoon lemon juice

3 tablespoons water ( I used liquid reserved from drained chickpeas)

1 teaspoon minced garlic

10 medium basil leaves

salt and pepper to taste

  1. What a great idea! My husband absolutely loves macadamias (and hummus) so this will be perfect for him! I wish I could eat chickpeas, but sadly not. Still, I love to cook with them for others 🙂

    1. NO chickpeas… allergies have a lot to answer for. One of my most favourite and unwritten family recipe from my Catalan grandmother is Cigrons and chickpeas are the star ingredient. So I couldn’t bear to think of never eating Cigrons again!

      1. I know. I wish I could have them! I have family there too! I’ve spent every summer in the French Catalan region growing up. The food is amazing, so is the landscape. Beautiful!

      3. My auntie always says: we live to eat, you (meaning pretty much anyone not Catalan) eat to live! 🙂
