You’ve spoken to the Gastroenterologsit, the Dietitian, the GP.
You’ve listened to and read the information about what foods your teenager can and can’t eat.
You’ve been down the gluten free aisle in the supermarket.
You’ve visited every health food store in your area.
You’ve contacted your state Coeliac Society.
You’ve taken the Coeliac Society’s supermarket tour.
you’ve realized that helping your teenager to get well, is not going to be easy or instant.
At times the process of converting to a gluten free diet can be overwhelming and time consuming.
The important message is not to panic as you are supporting your son or daughter whose life has just been turned upside down.
You need to develop a special trust with your teenager, a trust which goes both ways and allows them to give you honest feedback on new foods and meals.
And then you need to put one foot in front of the other as you travel together down the path of gluten free.
